Aussie influencer Lauren Lakin has caused a storm on social media after revealing her family had been denied entry to a public pool in France for “hygiene reasons”.
In a video shared to Instagram, Lakin, 40, shared they were turned away from the public pool because her husband and son were wearing board shorts, while they were instead expected to wear “Euro shorts or Speedos”.

Just shy of 24 hours after the video was posted, it hit almost one million views prompting Lakin to share another video clarifying exactly what had happened.
“We looked up why this is the rule, it’s due to hygiene reasons,” the content creator wrote online.
“Apparently board shorts are worn outside and in other public places whereas swimmers are only worn at the pool, therefore more hygienic.”
“There’s some very passionate people in the comments,” she said.
“As like with every viral video I’ve ever had, it somehow finds the dark side of the web.”

Lakin stated that she was now posting to “clear a few things up”, including the misconception that she and her family had been “kicked out” of the pool.
“We were told that the boys needed to buy the Euro swim shorts which they did have available right there in the vending machine,” she said.
“However, we decided not to get those because the pool was actually closing at 4pm for an event, and it was like quarter to three or something by the time we actually arrived.”
Rather than going into the pool that afternoon, Lakin and her family decided to leave and purchase the swim shorts elsewhere for a cheaper price and try the pool another day.
“We do not have a problem with the rule by the way,” she added.
“I was just letting people know in case they didn’t know because we didn’t know that that was a thing.

“And, it’s not really something you google prior to leaving for your holiday. Especially since we probably wouldn’t have even gone to the public swimming pool had it not been right there, it’s so close to where we’re staying.”
