Jackson Ford is facing 10-12 weeks on the sideline with a pectoral injury.
The in-form Warriors prop is on a mission to return for the finals after suffering the injury against the Cowboys last Sunday in Christchurch.
Ford held a meeting with surgeons on Tuesday where they determined his recovery period.
Ford joins fellow long-term injury players Tanah Boyd (ACL) and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (ACL).
A 10-week recovery would allow Ford to return for the Warriors’ round 26 clash with the Knights at Mt Smart Stadium.
The Warriors then host the Sea Eagles at home in round 27 before week one of the finals.
Ford (35 points) was second on the Dally M leaderboard behind Nathan Cleary (38 points) before voting went behind closed doors in Round 12. But his hopes of claiming the NRL’s top individual honour are now over.
