FIFA World Cup live: Canada-Switzerland and Qatar-Bosnia and Herzegovina kick off final group games

The final round of the group stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup starts with simultaneous Group B games between Switzerland and Canada, and Qatar vs Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After the 5am (AEST) games, Scotland faces Brazil while Morocco meets Haiti from 8am to wrap up Group C.

And Group A will be finalised as Mexico City plays host to Czechia and Mexico at the same time as South Africa-South Korea plays out in Monterrey from 11am.

Great stuff from the Swiss.

Canada whips the corner in and Kobel punches it away. There will be a long throw and this time Switzerland only half clears for another corner!

And the Canadians have possession of the ball.

The Swiss players are getting annoyed that the Canadians aren’t kicking the ball out.

They then do kick it out, but Manzambi gets up and doesn’t need treatment.

I know it’s part of the game, but that sort of cynical rubbish is not what Switzerland needs to reduce itself to.

I think if I were the referee, I would have made Manzambi go and have his minute off the pitch there for treatment.

He waits for support, and it arrives in the form of Johan Manzambi, who drives low towards the goal.

Maxime Crépeau lets the ball go under his body there – he needs to be better to stop that, and it’s a soft goal.

The Canadian hearts sink.

Cyle Larin is there in the penalty area looking to challenge the ball, but it’s jus too far ahead of him.

Larin should have tried harder to get there.

Canada are still second in Group B but are now level on points with Bosnia.

Canada still has a cushion with its vastly superior goal difference, and that will be the main factor now after Bosnia and Canada drew their opener.

Canada’s goal difference is still +5 and Bosnia’s is -2, so there’s still a big buffer there.

But if Bosnia start scoring or this lead opens up for Switzerland, Canada may start to get nervous.

It also means that Canada won’t be playing its next game in Canada if they don’t finish top of the group.

Poor defending from Canada.

They’ve been caught out there by a lightning move by Switzerland.

The visitors move the ball down the right side, the ball played in behind for Johan Manzambi.

That drags the defence to his side of the field and, when he crosses, it’s almost all over from that point.

Rubén Vargas is all on his own, so much space in the penalty area and he powers home.

The Vancouver crowd is silenced.

The complexion of the group changes.
