The final matches of the group stage are currently taking place, meaning we are nearing closer to learning who will face off in the round of 32.

Eleven teams have already secured their place in that knockout draw, others have learned they are no chance of going through. Some have to wait a little longer.

With the new tiebreaker rules, the eight best third-placed team will qualify for the knockouts. That positioning is decided based on head-to-head results and in some cases goal difference – that is if two teams finish in third with the same head-to-head result and also drew in their game against each other.

Here is where each nation sits at the time of publication.

Qualified for round of 32: Mexico, Switzerland, Canada, Brazil, Morocco, USA, Germany, France, Norway, Argentina and Colombia

Best third-placed teams at the time of publication: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sweden, Croatia, Algeria, Paraguay, Scotland, Cape Verde, DR Congo

Eliminated: Qatar, Haiti, Turkiye, Tunisia, Jordan and Panama
