Finally we have a goal and it’s claimed by the hometown heroes, Mexico. They don’t need any more goals to progress, and this one alone may seal Czechia’s early departure from the tournament.
Mateo Chavez has the honour after a fighting pass from Luis Romo who was surrounded by Czech players. Chavez gets to the end of it and runs solo up the right side of the pitch, beating both a defender and Kovar by chipping it over him and into the goal.
The stadium is deafening in response.
