PNG’s Tenkile Tree Kangaroo revived from the brink of extinction

The population of endangered Tenkile Tree Kangaroo is increasing thanks to the work of conservation groups, local landowners and villages.

The Tenkile Tree Kangaroo numbers as few as 100 animals, its near extinction cited to hunting.

“People who were active hunters are now active protectors”, said CEO of The Tenkile Conservation Alliance, Jim Thomas.

“They’re proud now to see these animals.”
