HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WLBT) – While rosters across college basketball turn over almost completely from one season to the next, Southern Miss guard Brewer Carruth has stayed put.
The Parklane Academy product is entering his third season with the Golden Eagles, making him the program’s longest-tenured player on the roster.
In today’s transfer portal era, that kind of continuity is rare. Carruth is no longer just an experienced player — he is the example every new Golden Eagle is expected to follow.
“Experience is powerful, and it is something I’ve lacked the past few years,” Carruth said. “It is really contagious. One of the challenges [Coach Ladner] gave me, and I gave myself, is to set that standard really high. We will be fun to watch and fun to play with.”
Southern Miss carries a roster with a dozen transfers heading into the season.
Carruth and the new players are working to build chemistry ahead of the year.
