Individuals can browse more than 6,000 book titles, divided by genres, including fantasy, romantasy, science fiction and young adult.

“The store is kind of a split between fantasy books and board games, and we also feature gifts and host events,” owner Shelby Schleyer said. “We’re leaning hard into the fantasy aspect. So, we’re carrying D&D, Magic: The Gathering, romantasy books, kids fantasy books and so on.”

The store, located next to Bitty & Beau’s Coffee shop, features a warm and inviting atmosphere with area rugs, green walls and ample natural light.

Guests can relax in a homey nook with tufted chairs and a sofa, framed photos and a candelabra in a fireplace, and there are also several large tables to play games.

“We have board games to demo, and we’re also going to host a lot of gaming events,” Schleyer said.

Schleyer, of Harleysville, has experience managing a local comic book store and wanted to create a welcoming space for people of all ages who enjoy fantasy.

Nearly all of the books are brand-new, except for a small display of gently used books.

“I love reading, and my husband and I play a lot of board games with our friends,” said Schleyer, who labels Photosynthesis and 7 Wonders as two of her favorite games.

“I found there to be a missed opportunity for this type of concept, especially the gaming aspect, in downtown Bethlehem. The Moravian Book Shop is down the street, but because we’re specializing in fantasy books, it’s a little more niche. So, I’m excited to build a community-focused spot for people to enjoy unique products and events in a comfy space.”

Sorcery & Scripts will host a variety of game nights, including Blind Date with a Game nights, Family Game Days, Pub Nights (BYOB events for ages 21 and older) and Dungeons & Dragons rent-to-play nights.

The shop also will host other events such as kids storytimes, Magic: The Gathering events and romantasy, multi-genre and silent reading book clubs.

In addition to books and games, the store also carries gaming supplies along with a variety of gifts and other merchandise, including pens, bookmarks, stickers, keychains, plush figures, candles and mugs.
