Paraguay knocked four-times world champions Germany out of the World Cup on Monday (Tuesday AEST) with a 4-3 penalty shootout win after the two sides were deadlocked 1-1 in their round of 32 match.
Julio Enciso opened the scoring for Paraguay when he headed in a cross by Matias Galarza in the 42nd minute.

Kai Havertz drew Germany level nine minutes into the second half with a glanced header from a Florian Wirtz cross.
Jonathan Tah thought he put Germany ahead in the 103rd minute in extra time, but the goal was disallowed on video review for a foul on Paraguayan goalkeeper Orlando Gill.
In a tense penalty shootout, Paraguay’s Jose Canale scored on the first sudden death penalty kick, and Gill made two key saves.
Prior to their elimination in Boston, Germany had won all of its World Cup penalty shootouts, and had only missed one penalty kick in 18 attempts. Germany’s record is now 20/24 with Kai Havertz, Nick Woltemade, and Jonathan Tah failing to find the back of the net.
After winning the 2014 World Cup, Germany was eliminated in the group stage of the next two tournaments.
Paraguay will face either France or Sweden in the Round of 16 in Philadelphia on July 4.
