A British expat has shared his frustration at the “horrific” driving standards in Australia, claiming there is one thing Aussies never like doing.

The expat, Jack, lives in Perth and says there’s one thing about Aussie driving standards that annoys him.

He said that “back home” in the UK, drivers are far more courteous whereas in Australia its “everybody for themselves.”

Jack said in a TikTok video that it is always easy to tell when a driver is British instead of Australian.

He described Aussie driving standards as “horrific” and said Australians never let other drivers out in a variety of situations.

“I let people out at junctions, when they’re reversing out of parking spaces,” he said.

“Why don’t Australians do that? They do not want anyone to pull out.

“You can see why there’s a lot of crashes.”

Jack said that not only do Australian drivers not let drivers out, they also never let people merge on a freeway.

“You try and pull out, and people just speed up,” he said.

“I just don’t understand it at all.”

Jack’s feelings about Aussie driving were seemingly shared by others in the comments, who voiced similar concerns.

“Totally this. After one year it still drives me nuts,” one user commented.

Another added that they “think about this every single time I get in the car here it’s absolutely mad”.

“I thought I was going mad,” they said.

Another British expat wished “People were more considerate with their driving here”.

“God forbid they let one person in.”

Some Australians also agreed with Jack’s take, describing their own experiences.

“As an Aussie who has lived here in the UK for the past five years, yes,” said one Aussie.

“It’s so nice here. Everyone thanks you on the road and lets you out.”

Another Australian described the driving as the “worst thing” about moving back, after years living abroad.
