Infant found dead in stormwater drain on street in Alexander Heights, in Perth’s north

Police are investigating reports an infant has been found dead in a stormwater drain in a street in Perth’s north.

WA Police said they fielded reports about the body found in the drain in Alexander Heights at about 1pm on Monday.

Multiple police resources have been deployed to the location on La Salle Road.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information to contact police immediately on 131 444.

Alexander Heights resident David Bigwood said he understood tradespeople cleaning the drain found the body. 

He said he and his partner were devastated to learn about the discovery, having a 17-month old themselves.

La Salle Road is a short suburban street with houses on the northern side and a dense nature reserve abutting along the entire southern side. 

There are six stormwater drains installed along the kerbing.
