The 2026 Newcastle BMW Golf Cup has been hailed a “memorable success” following the event’s latest edition at Horizons Golf Resort.
Even Australian professional Andrew Dodt lent his services for the day, joining the locals as they attempted to qualify for the world’s largest international amateur tournament.
A Novocastrian and former European Tour winner, he brought a wealth of experience and insight to the extravaganza.
Afterwards, Dodt spoke about life on the tour, took part in a Q&A session and, more importantly, offered tips to help others improve their scoring around the greens.
While a range of BMW vehicles were also on display, Newcastle BMW grabbed the opportunity to raise funds, $3,288, for the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation (HBCF).
“Thank you to every person who attended and supported the cause,” dealer principal Nicholas Hughston said.
“It was terrific to assist this wonderful charity and the important work they do for individuals and families in the region.
“Overall, everyone enjoyed a day on the course in perfect conditions.
“The event combined friendly competition with the chance to strengthen relationships, enabling us to connect with our valued customers and celebrate a shared passion for golf and the BMW brand.
“Plus, we were delighted to host Andrew (Dodt).
“It gave the guests an opportunity to meet and play alongside one of the nation’s top golfers.
“We now look forward to seeing our qualifying players represent Newcastle BMW in the next stage of the BMW Golf Cup in New Zealand in September.”
