Sky News Australia host Paul Murray takes viewers on a cross-country journey through the United States in a new documentary marking a major milestone in American history.
The one-hour special, Trump’s America: 250 Years in the Making, arrives as the US prepares to celebrate 250 years since declaring independence from Britain on July 4, 1776.
The documentary explores how a nation founded by 13 colonies grew into a global superpower and examines the challenges it faces today under President Donald Trump.
Murray travels thousands of kilometres across America to meet the people shaping the country’s future and to better understand the issues driving its political and cultural divisions.
The journey begins in the nation’s historic heartland before moving through some of its most influential cities and communities.
From New York and Washington DC to Williamsburg, Nashville, Dallas, San Francisco, and Malibu, the documentary examines the ideas, institutions and personalities that continue to define the US.
The program also visits the McAllen border region in Texas and communities along the Mississippi River, where debates about immigration, national identity and economic change remain front and centre.
