Agit Kabayel is already settling into life as the new WBC heavyweight beltholder. After a long time campaigning for a shot at world champion Oleksandr Usyk, Kabayel was upgraded from interim titlist by the WBC this week after the great Ukrainian signalled he was to move away from the championship picture and relinquished his three alphabet belts.

The German proved his worth on the way up with victories over Frank Sanchez and Zhilei Zhang particularly impressive.
Now Kabayel, 27-0 (19 KOs), is keen to solidify his position as a champion in the banner division.
“For me it’s no problem, I’ll fight with everyone. You can call me. My phone is here, please call me, I’ll fight with everyone,” Kabayel told Sky Sports. “I want competition, I will fight with the best ones. For me it’s no problem. I fight everyone.”
The 33-year-old hopes to make his first defense in September or October.
He explained he would then “wait” for Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua (ranked first and fifth respectively by the WBC) to resolve their ongoing differences, clearly recognizing the value in taking on one of the last remaining true cash cows in the weight class.
“We can make the fight but first of all I think all the fans, the British fans want to see the Anthony Joshua versus Tyson Fury fight and after that we can see who’s best for the fight with me,” Kabayel said.
Promoted by Queensberry, Kabayel is also open to fighting his promotional stablemates Daniel Dubois, the WBO champion, and Moses Itauma, who was yesterday ordered to fight Sanchez for the vacant IBF strap.
However, the 21-year-old Itauma will fight Filip Hrgovic, another leading contender, on August 29 in a bout that is currently without a belt on the line.
“No problem. [I’ll fight] the winner of that fight versus Hrgovic, why not?” Kabayel said.
“And also we can make a fight with Daniel [Dubois] or Fabio Wardley. Anyone. For me it’s no problem, I’ll fight anyone.
“Send me the location, send me the date, I’m ready.”
As for Usyk, his No. 1 target for so long, Kabayel is now happy to move on. “[Usyk] understands when he fights with Kabayel, this will be a hard fight for him.
