“That bond for me with real Australian people is something that I don’t take for granted,” says Karl.
Former Today show anchor Karl Stefanovic this week in his podcast said he hopes to stay connected to his mainstream audience.
Piers Morgan, fired by Good Morning Britain in 2021, said the bond between daily breakfast viewers and hosts is unique.
“I was just thinking then when you were talking so eloquently about it,” Stefanovic replied.
“I can go into any place around Australia from Broome to Cairns to Tassie, Launceston, and I walk into a pub and every time someone yells out, “F***ing Karlos, get a beer up ya!”
“It’s like that bond for me with real Australian people is something that I don’t take for granted. It’s a great privilege and it really is a great honour. And I don’t want to lose that.
“And that’s a little bit of what I worry about.”
