Broncos coach Michael Maguire has refused to reveal whether Josiah Karapani is on his last chance with the club following the winger’s second off-field indiscretion.

He was dropped for Saturday night’s clash with Cronulla and it’s unknown how long he’ll be kept out of the side.
It’s Karapani’s second brush with police this year.
In April, he received a $1000 fine for being a public nuisance at a Brisbane nightspot.
Facing the media on Friday morning, Maguire says the club will put their arms around Karapani but implied that the talented winger is on thin ice.
“Look, he’s disappointed, we’re disappointed. He’s made a mistake,” Maguire said.
“He’s part of the family here and we’ll work our way through what you know that that’s going to look like.
“He understands that he’s made a mistake, so we’ve just got to work our way through that.”
A reporter then asked if Karapani was on his last chance with the club.
“I’m not gonna talk around that,” Maguire replied.
“That’s internal stuff that we talk about but you know we’ve you’ve got a couple of chances in you and he’s obviously crossed the line there so he just needs to make sure now he does the right thing.”

Maguire’s comments follow Ben Hunt’s from earlier in the week.
“He knows he’s in the wrong, but he also knows it’s the second time he’s made that mistake and you can’t keep making those mistakes or you’re gonna find your way out of this club pretty quick,” Hunt said.
It’s been another week under the blowtorch for the Broncos.
Their finals hopes have all been dashed after seven straight losses. They’re set to become the first defending champion in 20 years to miss the eight.
Maguire is keeping the faith though while pointing to couple of things that have gone against the club in 2026.

I wouldn’t say things have fallen apart, we just haven’t had certain things go our way at times,” he said.
“Ultimately at the end of the day, we’ve had quite a bit of change among what the group is, whether or not that’s a reason or not. But one thing I do love about this group is that we don’t go into that. It’s whoever runs across the white line
“We get to play in front of 40 or 50,000 fans at our games here at Suncorp, and they’re ripping in and they’re going on the ride with us too. You feel it and our players do feel that too.
“We’re pretty fortunate that we have a great club and a great supporting base that gets behind us.”
