A determined Ukrainian U14 squad defeated top European foes to lift the Summer Cup in Loano. Their victory highlights deep youth talent.
The Ukrainian girls’ U14 team won the Tennis Europe Summer Cup.
According to Tennis Ukraine, the team competed in the final tournament, which took place in Loano, Italy.
Team lineup and path to the title
The Ukrainian team’s lineup: Maria Kocherenko, Daniella Tymoshenko (team captain – Vsevolod Kevlich).
On the way to the title, the girls defeated France (2-1), Slovakia (2-1) and Germany (2-1).
The U14 Ukrainian team has reached the final of the Tennis Europe Summer Cups eight times and has won the championship title five times.
The last time our team in this age category played in the decisive match of the Tennis Europe Summer Cups was in 2017. The gold medals were then won by Darya Lopatetska, Lyubov Kostenko and Anastasia Soboleva (captain – Oksana Kostenko).
The victory underscores the high potential of Ukrainian junior tennis and the prospects for the country’s younger teams in future tournaments.
