Collingwood has suffered a blow ahead of Saturday’s finals-shaping clash with Gold Coast with AFL games recordholder Scott Pendlebury ruled out with a calf issue.
It’s the second time in three weeks that Pendlebury has been missing for the Pies, after illness cost him his spot in the clash with Port Adelaide.
The 38-year-old also experienced some Achilles issues this season when the Magpies listed him as being managed.
He has been replaced in the side by Angus Anderson, who has won his way back into the Magpies’ line-up off the back of some strong recent VFL form.
Collingwood is delicately positioned on the AFL ladder right now in 10th position, with Craig McRae desperately trying to keep in touch with the pack after seven wins, seven losses and a draw so far this season.
Pendlebury told this masthead before his record-breaking 433rd AFL game that he was keen to play on again next season if his body remains sound.
The Magpies have already lost reliable defender Isaac Quaynor for the Suns game but regain Brayden Maynard, who will test out the shoulder that he dislocated on King’s Birthday against Melbourne.
