Prince William has issued a warning to Travis Kelce about “beer drinkers” as he made a surprise appearance on the NFL star’s podcast, released hours before his wedding to Taylor Swift.
The Prince of Wales appeared as a surprise guest on a one-off special episode of NFL stars Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast on Friday.
William teased Travis on England fans’ ability to drink beer amid the World Cup, which is currently taking place across the US, Canada and Mexico.
“I think you haven’t met your match until you’ve met a lot of beer drinkers from the UK,” he warned the two brothers.
“We can handle our own beer to anyone.”
The royal went on to tease Travis further by stating the NFL player’s “most iconic moment” at Wembley Stadium was when he joined Swift on stage during her Eras Tour as a “backup dancer” rather than when he scored a touchdown in 2015.
William is a passionate supporter of soccer and is frequently spotted cheering on Aston Villa at Villa Park with his son, Prince George.
The royal has passed on his passion for the sport onto his children, but revealed his father, King Charles does not share his passion.
When asked if the monarch introduced William to supporting Aston Villa, the Prince of Wales replied: “Absolutely not. My father hates football.”
“My family haven’t got a particularly long history with football. There are a few of us who support teams. My football love came from friends taking me to my first match and at school growing up,” he added.
“You can’t avoid the football chat. It’s everywhere. Some school friends or childhood friends of mine took me to my first game.”
Travis is a three-time Super Bowl winner with the Kansas City Chiefs while Jason is a Philadelphia Eagles legend. He also won a Super Bowl before retiring in 2024.
The special podcast was released on Friday just hours before Swift and Kelce tied the knot at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
“JUST&T MARRIED,” flashed on giant screens on the exterior of the Manhattan sports arena on Friday (local time).
Swift’s publicist later confirmed via email that the Grammy-winning musician had wed the Kansas City Chiefs star football player.
Comedian Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony, the statement said.
Jennifer Lopez, Ed Sheeran, Ethan Hawke, Jimmy Fallon, and Abby Wambach were just some of the big names spotted entering the venue on a sweltering day when temperatures topped 38C.
