A mother has been charged with murder over the death of her son in NSW.
The 32-year-old woman presented to a Wyong police station, and their conversation prompted “genuine concern” for a four-year-old boy, police said.
The boy’s body was then found in a unit on Byron St at Wyong, on the NSW Central Coast, about 4.40pm on Saturday.
The woman, who was still at the police station, was arrested.
The mother faced court on Sunday charged with domestic violence murder, and will undergo a mental health assessment.
She has also applied for a supression order.
Police described the crime scene as “confronting for all” and have activated their welfare proceedures for first responders.
A Department of Communities and Justice spokesperson confirmed it “had previous contact with the family and is currently examining all relevant records and information relating to this matter.”
“Given the matter remains the subject of an active NSW Police investigation, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage.”
