IWC releases the new Ingenieur Automatic 35 with a summer-ready Pool-coloured dial.
As a new addition to the current range of 35mm Ingenieur models, this new model adds a refreshing splash of colour to the model line.
The new IWC Ingenieur Automatic 35 is now available at IWC boutiques and is priced at £8,900.

When IWC brought back the Gérald Genta-designed Ingenieur in 2023, many watch enthusiasts were quite pleased to see its return. While there was a brief period of a more mid-century-style Ingenieur inspired by the reference 666, its lack of anti-magnetic features or distinct design made it blend into a crowd of round, dressy timepieces. With the new Ingenieur released in 2023, IWC released the model with conventional black, silver, and blue dials, but one dial iteration stood out for many: the Aqua Blue.

While the latest generation of the IWC Ingenieur has won many fans, 40mm can be quite large on an integrated-bracelet watch. Even though the original Jumbo SL was 40mm, IWC released a smaller SL in the 1980s measuring a compact 34mm. For fans of vintage-sized watches, IWC released a compact 35mm Ingenieur last year in 2025. What was missing was a fun dial colour, until now. As a mid-year release, IWC unveils the new Ingenieur Automatic 35 with a Pool dial.

IWC describes the new Pool-coloured dial as a “fresh, radiant aquatic shade,” perfectly timed for summer holidays spent poolside. The dial has a light blue-green tone, registering in my mind as a lighter version of the Aqua-dialled Ingenieur released in 2023. The grid pattern seen on other Ingenieur models remains, giving the dial an intricate, light-reflecting texture that elevates the Pool colour with added radiance. The dial features applied rhodium-plated numerals and hands that are filled with Super-LumiNova, and a framed date window at 3 o’clock.

The case and bracelet remain the same as other Ingenieur 35 models. Made of stainless steel, the case and bracelet feature a vertically brushed finish, with polished bevels on the outer edges of the case, bezel, crown guards, and bracelet. The five bezel screws are functional, as they attach the bezel to the case ring. The centre links of the bracelet are high-polished, adding a dressy element to an otherwise sporty design. The 35mm case measures 9.4mm thick and has 10 bar of water resistance thanks to the “Probus Scafusia” signed IWC screw-down crown. The dial is covered with a convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coatings on both sides.

Flipping the watch over reveals the IWC calibre 47110. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the calibre 47110 was released as part of the Ingenieur Automatic 35 launch in 2025, providing a compact automatic calibre for use inside smaller watches, thus removing the brand’s dependence on Sellita calibres. The calibre 47110 has 23 jewels, operates at 28,800 bph, and has a 42-hour power reserve. The movement and gold-plated rotor are decorated with broad circular Geneva striping.

Between the 40mm and 35mm IWC Ingenieur models, the 35 is arguably the most appealing, thanks to its subtle, sophisticated proportions. The 35mm platform is a refreshing change of direction for IWC. As a brand, we’re used to seeing much larger watches from it, so it’s great to see a focus on a more compact and versatile watch. Perhaps we will see a smaller Ceratanium or ceramic Ingenieur soon, especially if IWC continues with its coloured ceramics.
