THE Phillip Island Classic is set to return in 2027 on March 12-14, underpinning the newly created Phillip Island Festival of Motoring.
The meet is the pre-eminent event of its type in the southern hemisphere, drawing competitors from around the world to compete in a range of classes featuring touring cars, sports cars and open-wheelers.
Established by a group of local tourism and business leaders, it aims to position Phillip Island at the forefront of the classic car movement and boost local tourism.
Beyond the competitive aspects of the fixture, the three-day meet will feature classic car displays, automotive exhibits, memorabilia, and family-friendly entertainment within the circuit precinct.
“The Phillip Island Classic is much more than a race meeting; it is a living celebration of motorsport history,” said Mike Herlihy, Event Director.
“From iconic touring cars and open-wheel racers to sports cars that defined generations of competition, the event brings together the sights, sounds and spirit of historic motorsport in a way only events like the UK’s Goodwood Revival and the Monterey Car Week in the US can challenge.”

In 2026, the event once again saw hundreds of competitors take to the track, including Kai Allen in a Mercedes-AMG V8 Supercar.
Subsequently, momentum has built around Supercars returning to the track.
Recently, it was announced that the World Superbike Championship’s Downunder visit will move to The Bend, with Phillip Island management assuring the picturesque venue’s future.
Further details of the 2027 Phillip Island Classic will be released in due course.
Before then, however, the next event on the VHRR calendar will be the Winton Festival of Speed, with a bumper entry expected to descend upon the rural circuit from July 24-26.
