Nick Daicos has reportedly been approached by the Gold Coast Suns as part of an extremely bold bid to lure him out of the black and white.

AFL Media reported on Tuesday night that Daicos’ manager, Robbie D’Orazio, was recently approached to query if there was any interest in a move to Carrara.

Collingwood’s superstar is currently contracted until the end of 2029, and has a well-documented connection to the Magpies via 250-game club legend and father Peter, as well as star brother Josh.

Gold Coast entered a bid on the 23-year-old at pick No.4 in his 2021 draft year, before being matched by Craig McRae’s club.

He also toured the Suns’ facilities pre-draft while considering whether to lodge paperwork to be a father-son, or to enter the open draft pool.

There are Daicos family members based in Queensland and both Nick and Josh “regularly” make trips to the Gold Coast during and after AFL seasons.

Daicos was central to the Pies’ one-goal win at People First Stadium over the Suns last Saturday evening, racking up 31 disposals, eight clearances, two goal assists and a major.

The midfield maestro said Collingwood “set themselves for this game” in the “huge” Round 17 win.

“We know it’s four points at the end of the day, but we’re competing with these teams around us — it was great to get the win,“ Daicos told Fox Footy post-match.

TWIST IN STAR FREE AGENT’S DECISION ON FUTURE

After being heavily linked to Adelaide all year, restricted free agent Zac Bailey is reportedly poised to make a shock call on his future.

Seven’s Caroline Wilson revealed on Tuesday evening that the 26-year-old is now expected to turn down a monster offer from the Crows in favour of his club of nine seasons.

“I believe he’s going to stay at Brisbane — I’m close to calling it,” Wilson said.

“I think Brisbane wants an answer from Zac Bailey within a fortnight. They need to get their ducks in a row, and they’re pretty resigned now to losing Lachie Neale.

“They’ve increased their offer to Bailey about a week or two ago. Adelaide are offering $10 million over seven years. The Brisbane deal is as long in length; it was around $1-1.1m (but) I reckon it’s closer now to $1.2 million.

“I think Zac Bailey is thinking probably the Lions are home for him.”

It comes despite reports last month that Brisbane was “now expecting him to be at Adelaide next year”.

The Norwood product has played 181 games at the Lions, and earned his first All-Australian blazer last year after a career-best year.
