Adrian Newey will make a surprise return to the Red Bull fold at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.
The legendary car designer will drive the RB17 hypercar up the famous hillclimb in what marks his first appearance with the team since departing to join Aston Martin.
The legendary designer, who conceived the RB17 during his time at Red Bull, will be joined at the event by full-time driver Isack Hadjar, reserve driver Yuki Tsunoda, and Red Bull Racing Academy driver Alisha Palmowski.
The event marks the RB17’s dynamic debut, with the car set to run at Goodwood as part of its ongoing testing and development programme before its full performance envelope is explored at dedicated track facilities later this year.
More than five years in the making, the RB17 is built around a naturally aspirated Cosworth V10 hybrid powertrain and has been developed without the constraints of any racing regulations.
Red Bull Advanced Technologies (RBAT) has described it as one of the most technically sophisticated hypercars ever created.

“RB17 is exactly that. Its dynamic debut at Goodwood marks an important milestone in the programme, as we continue to validate and develop the car in real-world conditions and explore its full performance potential.”
The Red Bull display at Goodwood will also feature demonstration runs in the RB9, the car that powered Sebastian Vettel to his fourth consecutive drivers’ championship in 2013, alongside a static display of fan-favourite special-edition liveries spanning the team’s history.
