For every one of former head coach Mike Tomlin’s 19 NFL seasons, he never finished with a sub-.500 record. Tomlin’s teams was at least nine games 16 of those 19 seasons. So fans are used to hearing about how this team is going to win nine or ten games every season but rarely do pundits talk about Pittsburgh as a legitimate contender.
So, when the analysts on the NFL Network decided to go through the Steelers schedule game-by-game, we knew before they ever started, the group would somehow land on 10-7. They had to give the Steelers a five-game winning streak, including a clean sweep of the Baltimore Ravens to get the Steelers to double digits.
This season’s Steelers team is a complete unknown with new head coach Mike McCarthy in place and so many new pieces in a brand new system. The Steelers have some great players but this team is old at some spots and untested in others. This team is just as likely to win five games as it is ten at this point.
