Novo Nordisk, the Danish company that makes Ozempic and Wegovy, says Australia is a high-priority market for its new weight-loss pill which went on sale in Britain this week, raising hopes the alternative to a weekly injection will be available by early next year.
Novo Nordisk would not put a timeframe on the Australian launch of the Wegovy pill because it still needs to be approved by the medicines’ regulator, but said it expected demand to be huge based on what it had seen from sales in the United States and the United Kingdom.
