A new WA arts organisation is set to make a splash – quite literally – as it gears up for its first exhibition, transforming a West Perth warehouse into a vibrant group sculpture showcase.

On August 20, Sculpture West will be marking its official launch with a eight-day sculpture exhibition SPLASH!

Taking place at the former glazier workshop on Clever Street, the exhibition will showcase a mix of artists work, ranging from abstract, figurative, kinetic, ceramic, cast and modelled forms.

Artistic Director of Sculpture West Sandra Murray said the exhibition will be a unique celebration of the vibrant work and practice coming out of WA.

“With artists ranging from emerging to established, metropolitan and regional, working across diverse media, this exhibition has something for everyone,” she said.

Building on more than 10 years of experience in the industry through events like Sculpture at Bathers, the new organisation says it is focused on becoming the peak body for WA sculpture by creating opportunities for sculptures at every stage of their career.

The exhibition will be free to the public while artworks will be for sale, with proceeds supporting artists and Sculpture West.

Kicking off next month, SPLASH! will be open from Thursdays to Sundays from 11am to 5pm until August 30.
