After a first round blip, it has been a highly impressive tournament for Jannik Sinner as he bids to defend his Wimbledon title. The world number one is aiming to continue his incredible path towards greatness as well as avenge what happened to him at Roland Garros in his quest for a fourth Grand Slam title. A rematch from last year’s semi-final now awaits Sinner in the form of seven-time champion Novak Djokovic after the Serb outlasted Felix Auger-Aliassime in a five hour epic to reach another Wimbledon semi-final.

A convincing win over Jan-Lennard Struff means Sinner is back into the semi-finals at Wimbledon for a third time in his career.
The Italian’s quest for a successful title defence has continued and he will look to overcome a severe test in the semi-finals in order to win a fifth Grand Slam title.
That severe test will come in the form of Djokovic who’s quest for a 25th Grand Slam title continues after outlasting Auger-Aliassime in a fifth set tiebreak.
Now, Djokovic will hope to repeat his epic win over Sinner in Australia as he looks for a record-breaking eighth Wimbledon title.
Ahead of the semi-finals Sinner is looking forward to another classic match with Djokovic.
“If it’s Novak, I feel like every match is different,” Sinner claimed in his press conference.
“Even when I had this small streak with him, I felt like every match has really its own story. Especially when you play on a surface like this, if you have a bad serving day or not feeling the ball very well, it’s going to be very, very tough. In any case, I’m happy to be back in the semis. I’m happy to fight for every ball, then we see. More I cannot do, so…
“He has won this tournament so many times and he knows exactly how to approach it. I’m looking forward to it.”
Meanwhile Djokovic said he is a little bit surprised about what he’s able to achieve so far as he now has a showdown with the world number one.
“I guess yes, at this stage that I’m still able to battle these young guys that have 15 years less than me, that I’m able to beat them at the tightest possible scoreline. Of course, in a sense, it is really a nice surprise,” Djokovic detailed.
“But at the same time, I always have the highest expectations for myself. I can be very self-critical, very hard on myself. At the same time, I try to also enjoy the moments like this. I don’t know what tomorrow brings. To be honest, let’s see. I’m still in the tournament. I still want to go at least one more step further. But this was as good as a final for me. I gave it all that I had, gave it my best.
“I think it was really thrilling experience for us players, but also crowd present in the stadium, I’m sure also a lot of people watching on TV. Glad to be part of another historic match. But nevertheless, another great, historic run for me at the Grand Slams. This is what counts the most, honestly. I still try to prove to myself and others that I’m able to compete with the best players in the world and beat them in the biggest stage. That’s what I’ve done in Australia. It’s what I’ve done here.
“Hopefully I can do it few more matches here in London.”
Sinner will aim to be aggressive on the first serve and will use the forehand to try to and move Djokovic out of position.
The first serve percentage will be key for Djokovic as his forehand will need to be just as good as it was in Australia.
This will be another epic match in their rivalry with a place in the Wimbledon final once again up for grabs here.
The question will be how much Djokovic has in the tank and Sinner’s freshness, energy and quality may prove too much for the seven-time champion here.
Prediction: Sinner in four sets.
