Police ramp up search for missing Toowoomba mother Jana Armstrong

A major search is underway for a new mother who vanished from a Queensland home.

Jana Armstrong was last seen at a property on Gordon Ave in Newtown, Toowoomba, on Tuesday afternoon.

The 30-year-old’s white Hyundai Kona was found further down the same street about 6am on Wednesday, with police since closing off parts of the road.

Witnesses told 7NEWS her car had been seen in the area dozens of times over the past few days.

Forensic police and detectives were seen swarming the Gordon Ave home, as well as Armstrong’s vehicle.

Police and SES crews have continued combing through surrounding bushland, with searches expanded to five different locations around the area.

Police and family hold concerns for Armstrong’s welfare as her disappearance is said to be out of character.

Armstrong is the mother to a four-month-old son, who is now being looked after by family.

She is described as approximately 165cm tall with blue eyes and brown hair.

Armstrong was last seen wearing a green and white striped Country Road shirt, jeans and thongs.
