An urgent safety recall has been issued on a popular chicken-flavoured snack after they were found to be contaminated with rubber.

Food Standards Australia has issued a safety recall on certain batches of Snackbrands Chickadees.

The recall was made after the producers discovered that certain packets of the corn and rice-based snacks may be contaminated with rubber.

A notice on the Food Standards Australia website urges anybody who purchased the affected brands to return them immediately for a full refund.

The batches have been available for sale nationwide at stores including Woolworths, Coles and IGA.

The affected batches are as follows:

• Multipacks of 6x19g bags with best before dates of August 1, August 8 and August 12

• 190g bags with best before date August 15

• 90g bags with best before date December 12

• 45g bags with best before date December 12

FSA advises people not to eat the product and instead return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.

Anybody who believes they might have consumed affected bags and are experiencing health concerns should seek medical advise.
