That was a chipper Reuben Goodall’s reaction after impressing in qualifying this morning on main game debut at the NTI Townsville 500.
The Tickford Racing youngster outdid six full-timers in the process, including race-winning trio Jack Le Brocq, André Heimgartner and Cameron Hill, and will start just one position behind Triple Eight star Broc Feeney.
All told, he got within 0.0268s of progressing to the second phase of qualifying.
“Considering where we were yesterday, it’s good,” he continued on the broadcast.

“Obviously we were 24th yesterday and 19th today, made some really progress.
“All the lap time was there, it’s still just trying to piece together these things in this car that I’m trying to get my head around. It’s pretty difficult but we’re making it work.
“We have got a big 200km race this arvo and then another qualifying session tomorrow so hopefully we’ll be able to keep working on it and move up the grid a little bit more.”
This afternoon’s 68-lapper will be the longest race of Goodall’s career, starting at 3:05pm.
