FSW hires David Grace as new Men’s Basketball head coach
Florida Southwestern has hired a new Men’s Basketball Coach, with former UCLA Assistant David Grace becoming the fourth head coach in program history.
Lonzo Ball, Jaimie Jaquez Jr., Norman Powell.
These are just a few of the names that David Grace has recruited and developed, but now he’ll be working with FSW’s finest as their new Men’s Basketball head coach.
FSW Men’s Basketball Head Coach David Grace said, “We’ve got a great group coming and I’m really excited for the opportunity, but we’re going to raise banners here or I wouldn’t have come here.”
David Grace brings a rich history of basketball experience to Southwest Florida.
He’s coached collegiately for over 25 seasons, with 14 of them at the Division I level, and he’s worked with 21 future NBA players.
So, what brings him to the JUCO level?
Grace said, “This is a gold mine. It’s the premier JUCO in the country and I like to think of it as the UCLA of JUCO. We’re going to bring in top-level talent, we’ll have Division I players on our roster, so it’s going to be an exciting time. I want everybody to come out and support us.”
It’s been a few years since the Bucs have achieved national success, but Coach Grace is ready to restore FSW to that standard.
Grace said, “We want to win national titles, we want to put new literature on the wall. We want to hang banners, we want to sell out this place, and we want to have great kids and we want to just be mentors for them, love on them, give them discipline, give them a vision where they can after their years here move on to the next level at the four-year schools and then to the NBA. You know, there’s been an NBA player that’s come through here before, so we want to make more of those.”
Coach Grace will be getting straight to work as he prepares his team, with the start of the season just a few months away.
