Beauty brands are continuing to blur the lines between product launch and consumer experience, with Garnier unveiling its new Hydrating Sorbet Cream range through a large-scale experiential activation at Sydney’s Circular Quay.

The Garnier Sorbet Creamery transformed the harbour foreshore into a vibrant pop-up destination, complete with complimentary sorbet, skincare sampling and interactive experiences designed to encourage product trial. The launch was elevated by a surprise performance from Australian musician G Flip, who performed the hit single Bed on Fire for media and members of the public gathered at the event.

“I always love being back in Australia! It’s been fun to come home to help Garnier celebrate the launch of such a fun new product. I keep my skincare really simple, so this product is great for me,” said G Flip.

The activation introduces Garnier’s new Hydrating Sorbet Cream collection, a trio of lightweight moisturisers inspired by the texture of sorbet. Each formula delivers up to 48 hours of hydration while targeting different skincare concerns, including dehydration, dullness and blemish-prone skin. Designed for all skin types, the collection combines a fast-absorbing, non-greasy finish with a sensorial application experience.

According to Garnier, the campaign was developed in response to growing demand from younger consumers for beauty experiences that feel both enjoyable and effective, turning a daily skincare step into a more playful ritual.

The Circular Quay activation ran for two days and will move to Westfield Parramatta from 16–19 July, where consumers will again have the opportunity to experience the range through product sampling, games and giveaways.

For retailers, the campaign highlights the continued evolution of experiential marketing, with brands increasingly investing in immersive activations that create social buzz while driving product trial and awareness ahead of purchase.

On the Ground with Ricky Allen

Retail Beauty contributor Ricky Allen was at Circular Quay for the launch and reported that the activation was drawing crowds well before the official proceedings had wrapped up.

Against the backdrop of Sydney Harbour and the Opera House, the colourful Sorbet Creamery quickly became a focal point, with consumers queuing for complimentary sorbet and samples before the media event had even concluded.

Allen noted that G Flip’s surprise performance added to the atmosphere, while the new range itself centres around three lightweight moisturisers.

The Garnier Hyaluron Sorbet Cream delivers up to 48 hours of hydration with a lightweight sorbet-inspired texture. Joining it are Fresh & Bright Vitamin C Sorbet Cream, formulated to brighten and refresh the complexion, and Salicylic Fresh & Pure Sorbet Cream, designed to hydrate while helping balance excess oil for blemish-prone skin.

Available through Chemist Warehouse, the range offers an accessible price point, reinforcing Garnier’s strategy of combining affordable skincare with high-impact consumer experiences.
