Australians have seemingly answered the ocean’s call. Disney’s live-action Moana posted a significantly stronger opening locally than in the US on a pro-rata basis, with exhibitors pointing to Aussie lead Catherine Laga’aia, the school holidays and the country’s close ties to the Pacific as key factors for its performance.
