Vizrt has announced that its graphics technology was used by broadcast design agency Girraphic for Netflix’s debut MVP MMA event, broadcast live from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. Girraphic designed and operated graphics for the venue’s Halo Board, LED displays, and augmented reality elements, with the same workflow serving both in-venue displays and the Netflix broadcast from a single interface.
“In live sports, you never know what’s going to happen. That anticipation brings fans to the edge of their seats, and visual elements on every screen should meet the magic of the moment. By counting on Vizrt technology, our teams were able to bring our collective vision to life, engaging the Netflix MMA fans in the venue and at home,” says Nathan Marsh, CEO North/South America, Girraphic.
“Every team creating a live sports experience are faced with the same growing challenges: serving multiple audiences, who watch from multiple devices and points of view, at once. This demands incredible creativity and collaboration, so the right technology must be flexible without ever compromising on quality,” says Andrew O’Neil, SVP Sports Strategy and Growth, Vizrt.
The production used Viz Engine 5 for real-time 3D graphics rendering and compositing, combined with Viz Multiplay for controlling all venue displays from a single interface across any aspect ratio. The workflow combines pre-rendered animation, live video feeds, and real-time broadcast graphics.
