It’s the Midsummer Classic in the City of Brotherly Love.

The 2026 MLB All-Star Game takes place Tuesday as the American League battles the National League at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

This is Philly’s first time hosting the All-Star Game since 1996 when the exhibition was played at Veterans Stadium, the former home of the Phillies. And the fifth All-Star Game to be played in Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence was signed, comes as the U.S. celebrates its 250th anniversary.

The host Phillies have six All-Star representatives, including a trio of starters. Outfielder Brandon Marsh will be in the starting lineup as he makes his All-Star Game debut while designated hitter Kyle Schwarber took over Shohei Ohtani’s starting spot. Southpaw Cristopher Sánchez will become the first Phillies pitcher to start a Midsummer Classic since Roy Halladay in 2011 — and he’ll do so at his home ballpark.

Blue Jays right-hander Dylan Cease, meanwhile, will be the first Toronto pitcher to make an All-Star start since Halladay in 2009.

From the full AL and NL rosters to how to watch the exhibition and more, here’s everything to know for the 96th MLB All-Star Game:

AL All-Star Game starters, lineup, pitchers, reserves

Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was voted in as the AL starter at first base, but won’t be able to play due to injury. Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz was then moved into the starting lineup before also being ruled out due to injury. New York Yankees first baseman Ben Rice now gets the starting nod in his All-Star debut.

Two other original AL starters will miss the game due to injury in Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton. Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger and Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene will take over those spots.

And Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander, who is retiring after this season, was added to the AL roster by MLB commissioner Rob Manfred as a “Legend Pick.” But the three-time Cy Young winner won’t be active for the game due to injury.

Does the MLB All-Star Game determine World Series home-field advantage?

The All-Star Game no longer determines which league gets home-field advantage in the World Series. That rule was in place from 2003-16.

Are there extra innings in the MLB All-Star Game?

If the All-Star Game is tied after nine innings, it heads to a home run swing-off.

How does the MLB All-Star Game home run swing-off work?

Each team selects three hitters for the swing-off and the hitters get three swings apiece with coaches pitching to them. The team that hits the most home runs wins the game.

The first-ever home run swing-off occurred last year, when All-Star Game MVP Kyle Schwarber hit three homers to give the NL the win.

Has the AL or NL won more All-Star Games?

The AL owns a 48-45-2 all-time record against the NL. The NL has won two of the last three All-Star Games, following a run where the AL won nine straight.

When are the next MLB games?

The Phillies and New York Mets meet in Philly on Thursday before a 15-game slate on Friday.

Where is the 2027 MLB All-Star Game being played?

The Midsummer Classic next heads to one of MLB’s oldest stadiums in Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. It will be the fourth All-Star Game played at Wrigley and the first since 1990.

Phillies fans gathered outside the Under Armour store in Center City for a meet-and-greet with Bryce Harper ahead of the Home Run Derby. NBC10’s Neil Fischer spoke with a father and son who are first on line.
