Dimitris Giannakopoulos made it clear that Panathinaikos want Juancho Hernangomez to stay long-term, saying the club is ready to let him determine the terms of a new deal.
Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos has made his position clear regarding Juancho Hernangomez‘s future with the Greek powerhouse.

Speaking during an Instagram Live broadcast, Giannakopoulos emphasized that he wants the Spanish forward to remain in Athens beyond his current contract.
“Who’s going to let Juancho leave?” Giannakopoulos said.
“I say, write on a piece of paper, ‘We want you to play for as long as you want,’ and put our signature on it. Then let him fill in the rest.”
Hernangomez is currently under contract with Panathinaikos through the summer of 2027 after signing an extension in January 2025.
The forward previously stated that he feels at home in Athens and is happy with his role at Panathinaikos.

Hernangomez remains an important Panathinaikos piece
The 30-year-old joined Panathinaikos in 2023 following seven seasons in the NBA and helped the Greens capture the 2024 EuroLeague championship during his first campaign.
Hernangomez averaged 8.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 12.3 PIR across 44 EuroLeague appearances during the 2025-26 season.
This summer, PAO have already added Guerschon Yabusele, so the team currently has four prominent power forwards: Hernangomez, Yabusele, Dinos Mitoglou, and Nigel Hayes-Davis. The latter could play in the small forward position next season.
