ROLAND Dane is not mincing his words with regards to the need for more from Declan Fraser and the #777 side of the PremiAir Racing garage.
Fraser is known to be under pressure, with the team yet to commit to retaining him for 2027.
Qualifying has been his chief shortcoming, although there was definite progress in that realm across Darwin and into the opening race of the Townsville 500.
Fraser qualified a career-best 11th for the Friday sprint in north Queensland, only to wind up on the back row of the grid for the Saturday and Sunday races.
He left the weekend with a trio of 21st place finishes, compared to teammate Jayden Ojeda’s ninth, 11th and 10th.

“The #31 car was reasonable, and we came away with some solid results, which is probably about where we’re at right now. There’s still a bit of work to do to take the next step forward,” said PremiAir team principal Roland Dane.
“With the #777 car, we’ve got plenty to do. It’s simply not fast enough at the moment, and we’re not in the right postcode with it yet.”
Fraser is out at Queensland Raceway today for his one and only rookie test day of the season, as is allowed for a second-year driver.
“It’s disappointing, but it is what it is, and we’ll take the lessons from it and move forward,” Fraser said on Sunday night in Townsville.
“I’m still hungry for more, and I’m heading into Perth really keen to get after it and come back stronger.”
