Zendaya and Tom Holland are the golden standard when it comes to Hollywood relationships, but there’s one matter that could’ve ended their romance.
Holland, 30, sat down with his on-screen parents Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway and director Christopher Nolan to discuss The Odyssey, a film his wife Zendaya also stars in. He said she joked she would leave him if he didn’t accept the major role.

Speaking to People about his role as Telemachus in the movie, Holland quipped he “did a lot of thinking” when Nolan, 55, first asked him to be part of the blockbuster of the year.
“To be honest, when I got home after our meeting, I sat down with Z and was like, ’I’ve been offered this movie,” Holland began.
“And she was like, ‘By who?’ And I was like, ‘It’s the big one.’ And she was like, ‘Chris?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s Chris Nolan.’
“And then we had Spider-Man that was literally scheduled to go the same day that we would start shooting,” he added.
“Z said, ‘I’ll leave you if you don’t do The Odyssey.’”
“Yes. Well, thank you to her,” Nolan laughed.
“Here I am,” Holland added.
It’s been a mammoth month for Holland and Zendaya with both of them co-starring in The Odyssey and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Both films have scheduled July releases and so it’s been a long month of global press tours for both projects.

Holland revealed in a June interview with GQ that before he could sign on to The Odyssey, he had to ask Sony Pictures executive Tom Rotham – Sony Pictures produces Spider-Man – to push back production so he could make both movies.
The A-list couple have been notoriously private when it comes to confirming details of their relationship. Holland only briefly confirmed their marriage in June after 18 months of rumours.

They originally met during the 2016 auditions and filming for Spider-Man: Homecoming and went public with their romance in 2021.
“Our business can present very stressful situations and it’s really nice to have a bedrock of a relationship that will stand the test of time,” Holland told Esquire of their marriage.
