Jake Paul learned a lesson the night he fought Anthony Joshua back in December.

It seemed outrageous that someone of Paul’s fighting ability – a man whose best win is a tossup between a 58-year-old Mike Tyson or a way-over-the-hill Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr – could take on one of the finest heavyweights of the modern era. Albeit Joshua, a former Olympic gold medalist and two-time champion of the world, was not the fighter he once was, the 36-year-old was expected to deal with Paul handily – and that’s exactly what happened.

Joshua dropped Paul several times before smashing a right hand across the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s face in round six to put an end to proceedings. Paul suffered two breaks to his jaw from the finishing shot and has not been back in the ring since.

Paul, who has since had two surgeries to mend his jaw, has spoken of a return to the sport, but when appearing on The Pat McAfee Show he revealed he wouldn’t be stepping in the ring with a heavyweight the level of Joshua again.

“It heals back stronger,” Paul said of his jaw. “I probably won’t fight Olympic gold medallist heavyweights anymore. That’s smart right. I learned my lesson.

“But if the paycheck is big enough I’ll fight anybody,” Paul joked. “I’ll break it again.”
