Paul Hogan’s ‘game-changing’ Australia plan for troubled son Chance, 28, after domestic violence case is dropped

  • July 16, 2026

Paul Hogan is hoping to bring his youngest son, Chance, to Australia for an extended stay after the 28-year-old avoided criminal charges following his domestic violence arrest in Los Angeles.

Chance Hogan was arrested at his father’s Venice Beach home in May over an alleged domestic battery but will no longer face prosecution after the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office reviewed the case.

Police were called to the 85-year-old actor’s home at about 10.30am on May 1 following reports of a domestic disturbance.

Hogan and an unidentified woman were seen speaking with officers outside the property after Chance had allegedly left the scene.

Chance was later located and arrested, with bail set at US$20,000 (about AUD$30,000).

Following the New York Post’s report that prosecutors had decided not to proceed with the case, Hogan is now said to be keen to get his son out of Los Angeles and back to Australia for an extended holiday in the hope it will help him reset.

Although the Crocodile Dundee star has spoken openly about wanting to return to Australia permanently, Chance, the lead singer of punk rock band Rowdy P, is reportedly settled in LA and has “zero interest in upping sticks and leaving his friend group behind”.

“So for right now a compromise scenario would see them headed back [to Australia] for an extended holiday, like a few months, which isn’t out of the question as Chance has always had a blast when he’s spent time [Down Under] with his dad,” an insider told Woman’s Day.

“Paul is in the process of bigging that up to Chance as he strongly believes that it would be a game changer to get him over there for a fresh start, far away from the pitfalls of LA.”

According to the publication, Hogan and his ex-wife and Crocodile Dundee co-star Linda Kozlowski have told their son he has received a “lucky break” after authorities decided not to pursue the matter.

“They were terrified the authorities would throw the book at him, even though they did privately agree with Chance’s argument that it was an overblown incident that came across a lot worse than it actually was,” the source said.

The insider claimed Chance is “feeling vindicated, albeit pretty frustrated” after being forced to “jump through hoops to clear his name”.

“But even so, Paul and Linda are still focused on drumming it home that he needs to treat it as a wake-up call, which means he needs to change up his lifestyle and make wiser choices moving forward.”

The aspiring musician has previously raised concerns with a series of troubling social media posts.

In January last year, he shared a video on his private Instagram account in which he pleaded for someone to “please kill me” while drinking wine and watching an American sitcom.

“This is my life, This is what it’s been reduced to. Please. Please kill me. I’m begging you,” he said.

In September 2024, Chance also posted a cryptic Instagram video in which he ominously counted down to an unspecified event.

“It’s only just begun,” he said. “One hour and 25 minutes, 24 minutes now, in fact. That’s when it commences.”

He has also previously shared images of himself collapsed at gigs, performing shoeys and having his hair and chest spray-painted pink.

Hogan, however, dismissed the online behaviour during an interview with celebrity reporter Richard Wilkins in May last year, insisting his son was deliberately trying to attract media attention.

“He’s a terrible person because he knows [media are] watching him, and he puts on something for them,” he said.

Last month, Woman’s Day also reported that the Aussie icon had reached breaking point and was urging Kozlowski to take the reins of the situation.

“Paul’s tired. At 86 he just doesn’t need to be dealing with this,” a well-placed source told the publication.

“As a dad, it’s devastating.”

Hogan has six children from two marriages. He shares five children, sons Brett, Clay, Scott and Todd, and daughter Lauren, with his first wife, Noelene Edwards, and one son (Chance) with Kozlowski.
