Thursday night’s Powerball draw has sent the jackpot soaring to a breathtaking $40 million after no players across Australia managed to claim the division one prize.
The Lotterywest website briefly glitched as ticket holders rushed to check their numbers, but hopeful players were left disappointed after no winning ticket matched all seven numbers and the Powerball.
The winning numbers were 28, 4, 15, 22, 13, 5, 14 and the Powerball was 13.
While there were no division one winners, four division two winners each took home $137,888.50, with none of the winners from Western Australia.
A further 53 players won division three prizes, including six WA winners, who each scored $12,871.40.
The huge Powerball draw comes after a Perth lotto outlet recently celebrated a major milestone.
EE Hambley in Queens Park marked its 80th birthday, with the family-owned business having been passed down through four generations.
The store has operated as a Supa IGA, Australia Post outlet and Lotterywest kiosk since 1946.
It is WA’s second-longest serving Lotterywest retailer and one of only 12 stores among nearly 500 to have sold Lotterywest games for more than 50 years.
Lotterywest chief executive Colin Smith said the organisation’s community work and financial support would not be possible without retailers such as EE Hambley.
“Surviving 80 years and three generations of family business takes resilience, innovation, adaptability, loyalty, integrity, family values and community connection,” he said.
