FIFA has announced the match officials for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between defending champions Argentina and Spain.

Lionel Messi’s Argentina and European champions Spain will go head-to-head in New Jersey on Monday (AEST).

Slovenia’s Slavko Vincic will referee the 2026 showpiece decider.

Fellow Slovenians Tomaz Klancnik and Andraz Kovacic will serve as the first and second assistant referees, while Adham Makhadmeh has been named the fourth official and Mohammad Alkalaf the reserve assistant referee.

Argentina, after scoring a 92nd-minute winner to sink bitter rivals England in the semi-finals, are looking to become the first nation since South America’s Brazil in 1958 and 1962 to claim back-to-back World Cup trophies.

Spain, who outclassed France 2-0 in the other semi-final, are eyeing their second World Cup crown and first since 2010.

The final will be the first ever World Cup decider between the reigning UEFA European champions, and the reigning CONMEBOL Copa America champions.

Meanwhile, the match officials for the third-place playoff between France and England have been confirmed.

Venezuela’s Jesus Valenzuela will referee the match on Sunday (AEST). Compatriots Jorge Urrego and Tulio Moreno are the first and second assistant referees, while Jalal Jayed has been named the fourth official and Zakaria Brinsi the reserve assistant referee.
