A royal source close to the Sussexes has reportedly shared an insight into Meghan Markle’s view on her brief UK visit.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House during the couple’s brief UK visit.
Buckingham Palace confirmed a “private family occasion” had taken place, but neither party has released any further official information regarding the meeting.
Harry’s return to the UK was primarily motivated by events celebrating the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
The Duke had hoped for the Duchess and their children to join him for the duration of his visit, but instead the family opted for a brief reunion to coincide with the meeting with the monarch.
A source who knows the couple told People magazine Meghan felt “humiliated” by the way Harry’s trip unfolded.
Another insider revealed “there’s a lot of sadness” for the Duchess because she was unable to be by her husband’s side while he carried out official engagements.
Meghan did not make any public appearances while she was in the UK.
The private meeting marked the first time Charles had seen Archie and Lilibet in person in more than four years.
Meanwhile, the Duchess had not been in the UK since 2022 when she attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II with Harry.
It comes after “sources close to the Sussexes” revealed the lengths the Royal Family went to keep details of the meeting secret.
Camilla, who was nearby at her Ray Mill House estate, “dropped everything” and drove over to Highgrove in “quite a hurry”.
“Charles wanted Camilla to be there for moral support and because she has been a pillar of strength for him throughout all the drama with Harry, and she dropped everything,” a source told Vanity Fair.
“She told no one, not even her family. She just got in the car and headed over.
“They were all on a mission to keep the meeting as watertight as possible.”
