Facebook suffers ‘major global outage’

Facebook users are able to access their accounts once aagin after an earlier outage blocked them.

The issue was first raised at 5.30pm Sunday, July 19, with thousands of users across the world complaining about being unable to log into their accounts.

The network’s phone application is working as usual, according to Perth Now.

According to the outlet, the issue has affected users across the world.

Down Detector registered more than 3000 complaints as of 4pm Sunday, with countless others posting their grievances elsewhere across the internet. That number, as of 8.40pm, dropped to 61.

Earlier in the night, users were faced with the message: “Account Temporarily Unavailable. Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes.”

At its peark, 62per cent of reported issues were related to the website, 21per cent involved mobile devices, and 11per cent involved the app.

Meta had not issued an official explanation for the outage as of the time of reporting.

Outages which affected Instagram and Messenger also appears to be over.

According to downdetector, at 6.30pm, there were almost 2,000 reports of Instagram being down. As of late Sunday evening, there are now only 158 reports.

Earlier, some 37per cent of issues were related to the app, while another 33per cent were related to “feed/timeline” and another 25 per cent to posting and publishing.

There were 200 complaints about Facebook Messenger being inaccessible at around the same time, according to downdetector. That has now dropped to 12.

Some 21 per cent of reported issues related to the app, while another 29 per cent were related to the webiste. Another 29 per cent logged issues with voice calls.
