British Army and UK Armed Forces rugby union captain Warrant Officer Jade Mullen is switching codes in the hope of making Wales’ Rugby League World Cup squad.

WO Mullen, who is now playing league for London Broncos, made her international debut for Wales in the 14-0 loss to Canada at the Gnoll Stadium, Neath.

She has Army connections in the team as she’s played alongside Bombardier Bethan Dainton, who is Wales captain and in the service.

Barring injury, Bdr Dainton will be one of the first names in the World Cup squad and there’s growing optimism that WO Mullen will join her in Australia.

Wales will go up against hosts Australia, England and Samoa at the World Cup, which starts in October.
