The Sea Eagles haven’t given up hope of Tom Trbojevic playing again this year after scans revealed the superstar fullback had suffered a low-grade strain to his right hamstring.
Trbojevic was shattered as he left the field against the Titans on Sunday afternoon, with the co-captain suffering nine hamstring injuries in the past eight seasons.
The club great missed two months of action earlier this year when he injured his other hamstring against the Cowboys.
Trbojevic will miss this weekend’s game against the Sharks, with the club to reassess his condition following the round 22 bye.
The Sea Eagles are currently ninth and have hit a wall in recent weeks, with their hopes of playing finals footy potentially hinging on whether their marquee man gets back on the field.
“Manly Co-captain Tom Trbojevic has undergone scans after suffering a hamstring injury in Sunday’s match against the Titans on the Gold Coast,” a club statement read.
“Turbo was forced from the field midway through the first half and did not return.
“Scans have revealed a low-grade strain to his right hamstring.
“Tom returned from a serious injury to his left hamstring in Round 16.
“Tom will not play in Sunday’s game against the Sharks at 4 Pines Park and will be reassessed after the team’s Round 22 bye.”
Lehi Hopoate is expected to play fullback while Trbojevic is sidelined, with Clayton Faulalo also currently out with a hamstring issue.
