Collingwood small forward Bobby Hill’s career at the Pies is nearing its end.
CODE Sports has confirmed that talks have begun between the Norm Smith medallist’s management and the club to exit the Magpies with conversation surrounding whether contract – which runs until the end of 2030 – is ceased.
Hill, 26, has not played since August last year and has since been allowed periods of leave by the club as he dealt with ongoing personal issues.
The deal was estimated to be worth in the realm of $750,000 per year.
Collingwood coach Craig McRae said last month that Hill was “battling, truthfully, battling”.
“He’s got a bit going on, Bobby, let’s be really clear, he’s got a lot going on and he’s a work in progress,” McRae said, with the club having publicly supported Hill throughout the last 12 months
“But it’s nice to have him here (at training)… I think he’s a long way away from playing footy at the moment, we’re conscious of that.
“Again, when he’s in our building at least we get some opportunities to make him feel loved and appreciated.”
