SOHO HOUSE BREAKS GROUND IN MILAN
Construction has begun on Soho House Milan, which will occupy the former Cinema Arti on Via Mascagni in the city’s Porta Monforte district. Scheduled to open by the end of 2028, the project will mark the members’ club’s second location in Italy following Soho House Rome, extending its network into one of the country’s most active creative and design centers.
The new house is being developed within a 1930s building designed by Italian architect Mario Cereghini. Originally constructed between 1934 and 1935, the rationalist complex combines reinforced concrete and brick with marble columns, glass-block surfaces, nautical-style portholes, and a prominent projecting canopy engineered by Giorgio Baroni. After suffering damage during the Second World War, the building later became Cinema Arti – Casa Disney, remembered locally for its children’s film screenings before closing around two decades ago.

SIX LEVELS FOR STAYING, WORKING AND SOCIALIZING
Distributed across six floors, Soho House Milan will bring together members-only club spaces, more than 50 bedrooms, areas for working and socializing, wellness facilities, and a gym. A panoramic rooftop terrace with a swimming pool will crown the building, creating an elevated outdoor space overlooking the surrounding Milanese cityscape.
The interiors will follow the informal, residential atmosphere associated with Soho House locations worldwide while responding to the culture of Milan. Furniture and accessories by Soho Home will be incorporated throughout, alongside locally informed materials, details, and culinary offerings intended to connect the international hospitality model with the character of its host city.

CONNECTING WITH MILAN AHEAD OF 2028
While construction progresses, Soho House will continue engaging with Milan through its Cities Without Houses program. The membership format allows creatives based in cities without a permanent house to access the brand’s global locations and take part in locally organized dinners, cultural programs, and private events.
Before its conversion into Soho House Milan, the building also served as an Olympic boxing gym, adding another layer to its evolving history. The renovation will draw on the structure’s Rationalist heritage while incorporating Italian craftsmanship throughout, alongside an art collection featuring works by artists born, trained, or based in Milan, further rooting the new club in the city’s contemporary creative scene.
