Yamaha set a deadline of the summer break for when Jack Miller’s future at the team would be decided. One race weekend after the conclusion of the break, and the Australian is still none the wiser on whether he will be racing in the premier class next season.
Toprak Razgatlioglu has already been announced as one of the Pramac riders next season. The introduction of the first Turkish rider in MotoGP is reportedly part of Liberty Media’s plan to put an end to the Italian and Spanish dominance that the sport has seen over the years.
The announcement of Razgatlioglu has left Miller and his Pramac teammate, Miguel Oliveira, in limbo. There is the ‘possibility’ of Miller replacing Alex Rins at the factory Yamaha team.
However, Neil Hodgson doesn’t believe Yamaha will give Rins the boot, highlighting the loyalty of the Japanese constructor in past negotiations.

LCR Honda have also tabled an offer to Pramac Yamaha target Diogo Moreira
Speaking on The Race MotoGP Podcast, journalist Simon Patterson revealed what he had heard directly in the MotoGP paddock regarding who will partner Razgatlioglu at Pramac next season, with Moto2 rider Diogo Moreira leading the polls, saying, “From what we understand, he has two offers on the table.
“One is at LCR Honda, one is at Pramac Yamaha. He has to make a choice between those. The key factor of what he chooses is going to be how long the contract is. And I asked him about that post-race. And he basically confirmed that.
“He admitted to it even after initially saying, ‘I’m not going to talk about next year, I haven’t thought about it at all.’ Yamaha has extended for two weeks because they’ve given him the chance to think.
“The reason that we’ve got to this position where something’s not been announced when we thought it was going to be announced is because Yamaha didn’t think he’d have another offer on the table. They thought that this would all be done and dusted.
“They’d know one way or another right now whether he was staying in Moto2 or coming to them, and then the spanner of the LCR offer came in the works because they’ve found a way to replace Somkiat Chandra.”
The news serves as a bit of a lifeline for Miller. If the factory Yamaha team end up staying loyal to Rins, the Australian still has a chance of staying on the grid next season with Pramac. Of course, that is also dependent on Moreira opting to accept the Honda offer over Yamaha.

Miller declared his love for Yamaha ahead of the Austrian GP, highlighting that he still has room to grow with the team after joining them in 2025, as well as participating in the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race as part of the Japanese constructor’s entry.
Despite his affection for the team, Miller is currently suffering the worst single-season record of his MotoGP career in his maiden season with the Japanese manufacturer.

He has 46 points after 13 rounds and is currently languishing in 16th place in the riders’ standings. The Australian hasn’t stepped foot on the podium since 2023, and we’d have to go back to his Ducati days in 2021 for his most recent win in the premier class.
If he is without a seat by the start of next year’s campaign, he could find himself back within the ranks of the Borgo Panigale team. A ride in the World Superbikes championship with Ducati is Miller’s backup plan, with it being reported that Luigi Dall’Igna ‘wouldn’t think twice’ about hooking him up.
